The Future Insight Prize is an award scheme established by Merck To mark their 350 anniversary as a leading pharmaceutical company, Merck are providing a €1 million research grant each year for a company or individual who has shown great achievements in their field and promises to contribute to their industry in the future.
As the years change so will the theme behind the prize. By 2022 they will award a technological idea to feed a growing world population, a multi – drug resistance breaker and an idea for a photo-catalytic fuel production from atmospheric CO2. This year the focus was on antibacterial drug resistance and the prize went to Prof. Stephan Sieber
